World Media Summit critical platform for media dialogue, cooperation, says media leader
BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The World Media Summit provides an important platform for media organizations worldwide to deepen dialogue and pursue practical cooperation, a senior media official told Xinhua.
Mohammed Alyami, director general of the Union of News Agencies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), expressed hope that the seventh summit would further build consensus and encourage concrete steps to jointly address the opportunities and challenges brought by AI-driven transformation.
Since its launch in 2009, the summit has become an important platform for dialogue and cooperation among media organizations worldwide, evolving from a forum for exchanging views into a mechanism for discussing major changes in the media industry and exploring its future, Alyami said.
It has become increasingly important as political, technological and social changes accelerate worldwide and the media face challenges related to credibility, the spread of misinformation and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, he said.
