Ex-BNRA Commander Bo Nagar reveals NUG killings and extortion schemes

Htet Nadi (NP News)- Nov 3
Bo Nagar, who has returned to the legal fold, revealed via his TikTok account that the NUG has committed numerous murders, including the killing of fellow revolutionaries and innocent civilians, by justifying these acts with various labels, such as accusing the victims of attending government schools or acting as informants (Dalans).
Bo Nagar aka Naing Lin, is a former leader of the Bamar National Revolutionary Army (BNRA)—a revolutionary force based in Pale Township, Sagaing Region, who returned to the legal fold in February 2026.
Since October 18, defected Bo Nagar has been exposing the reality of NUG's revolution on his TikTok account, sharing his personal experiences with the public.
According to his statements, in areas within the Anyar region that have come under the control and administration of the NUF, a system akin to military rule is being enforced. The public is completely denied the right to critique, point out errors, or express their views; furthermore, those who do voice criticism are labeled as spies or informants (dalans) and subsequently killed.
“Once they gain control and are able to govern an area in our region of Anyar, it becomes a place under military rule. No one has right to criticize, point out what is right or wrong, or offer an assessment of anything. The moment you do so, people like that are labeled as spies or dalan and killed. In Anyar, people who oppose them are labeled as spies or ‘dalan’ and eliminated. And I’m talking about our region of Anyar alone. Anyar is not a vast area. In our district and the surrounding areas alone, more than 100 people have been killed in this manner. I have evidence to support these claims,” Bo Nagar said.
Furthermore, Bo Nagar highlighted incidents of killings, revealing that purges occurred not only against innocent civilians but also among revolutionaries themselves.
“Setting aside the general public for a moment, you may have even heard about what happened among fellow revolutionaries. The daughter and son-in-law of CRPH Chairman U Aung Kyi Nyunt arrived and joined forces with Bo Thanmani from Thabyay Aye Village, Yinmabin District. They blatantly purged over 20 people, including local groups who refused to bow to their authority, as well as civilians,” he said.
Furthermore, he cited incidents in Salingyi Township, District 3, where students and their parents were allegedly arrested, tortured, and killed on the grounds that the students had enrolled in government schools outside the NUG’s administrative control.
“Just because people enrolled in other education systems rather than theirs, parents and students in our District 3, specifically in Salingyi as well as in other areas, were brutally arrested, tortured, and killed. That is what the NUG is doing. I’m speaking with evidence. If that isn't authoritarianism, what is it?” he pointed out.
In addition, Bo Nagar stated in reference to an incident involving the illegal extraction of timber from the Alaungdaw Kathapa site—that if members of the public attempted to report the misconduct of these armed group members, no action was taken against the perpetrators, and the complainants themselves were often killed.
“In another instance, KIA officers and PDF members colluded to illegally extract timber from the historical heritage site of Alaungdaw Kathapa. Trees even fell onto the covered walkways of the shrine, causing them to crumble. The education officer from Kani Township reported these activities to the NUG central leadership. Whil e the accused groups faced no punishment, the education officer’s entire family—including a four-year-old child—was brutally wiped out inside their own home,” Bo Nagar said.
That is why, Bo Nagar said that although the NUG seeks to assume governing power in the future, it has already demonstrated authoritarian tendencies and excessive self-interest even before coming to power.
“What I am talking about now is dictatorship itself. I am referring to the fact that an organization seeking governing power in our country’s future is already displaying excessive authoritarian tendencies and acting in an excessively self-serving manner even before it has come to power,” Bo Nagar added. –
